Wood supply
Round wood from logging operations in the region accounts for 70% of the fuel for the Pécs biomass unit. Trees are used only if they are unsuited for other applications, for instance if they are diseased or too twisted for woodworking. The remaining 30% of fuel consists of wood waste and agricultural byproducts.

Video interview of Ernö Horvàth, Pannontrading Manager on wood traceability:
Under current regulations governing biomass units, suppliers must provide certification of the origin of their products. This traceability, required of all our wood suppliers, guarantees that the wood is obtained from sustainable logging operations and is appropriate for producing "green" electricity. We retain the certificates of origin issued by the suppliers.

The wood is delivered mainly by rail, but also by road. The trucks are weighed on their arrival, and the wood is inspected for quality.

Video interview of Ernö Horvàth, Pannontrading Manager on wood origins:
Seventy percent of the wood used at the site comes from logging operations. Chips generated by the wood industry provide 20%, while woodworking by-products make up the remaining 10%. Logging is carried out by two state-owned forestry companies, which provide certificates of origin for each load of wood they deliver. Wood from logging operations arrives at the site primarily by rail and, to a lesser extent, by road. Wood chips and by-products are delivered solely by road.
