Challenges for Dalkia
The Pécs biomass CHP unit has a total heating capacity of 313 MWth and electrical capacity of 182 MWe. Built in 2004, the 50 MWe biomass unit is Dalkia's largest wood-fired facility and one of the biggest in Central Europe. It supplies the country's second largest heating network and provides heat to 30,000 homes in Pécs, as well as to 22 manufacturers. Petav, the local district heating supplier in which PANNONPOWER owns a 49% stake, is managed in partnership with the city of Pécs. The PANNONPOWER group had 350 employees and reported €67 million in revenue in 2006; it is Hungary's leading supplier of biomass-generated electricity. With its acquisition of PANNONPOWER, Dalkia has become one of the largest producers of biomass power in Central Europe. Projected revenue over the length of the current operating licenses will amount to €600 million over nine years, excluding any expansion.

Video interview of Judit Schaub, communication Manager, Dalkia Energia Zrt:
Dalkia's Hungarian subsidiary, Dalkia Energia, acquired PANNONPOWER in February 2007. The acquisition gave Dalkia a leading provider of renewable energy, as well as access to the know-how acquired by the PANNONPOWER workforce in Pécs. At the same time, PANNONPOWER employees will have the opportunity to draw on the Group's combined expertise, developed in each of the 38 countries where Dalkia operates. Already an influential force in Hungary's energy services market, Dalkia Energia strengthened its market position significantly in 2007. In the wake of several acquisitions, including PANNONPOWER, Dalkia Energia has more than doubled its revenue and now has 820 employees in Hungary.
